Tools For Two, DuoDuo

Tools For Two is an interactive project for children, taking place in playgrounds across Oslo as a travelling performative work. The project consists of ceramic objects resembling familiar playground tools, such as buckets and shovels, but connected in pairs to encourage children to explore collaboration through play.

The project questions adults’ expectations around children’s social interaction and asks how children can be given space to define their own ways of playing, sharing, and connecting.

The choice of ceramic is deliberate: its weight and fragility become part of the experience, inviting children to engage with a material they are not often given access to. By bringing the work into playgrounds, Tools For Two creates an open space for play, participation, and dialogue outside the traditional gallery setting.
